Truancy Prevention
TACOLCY, along with community partners such as Catalyst Miami, Concerned African Women, HOSANNA Community Foundation, and the Non-Violence Project make up the Liberty City/Brownsville Service Partnership to Prevent Truancy. With TACOLCY at its helm, the primary focus of the partnership is to provide programs that are both appealing and engaging to youth. Funded through The Children’s Trust, the partnership combines staff and resources to address truancy among youth in grades K-12 and their families in the thirteen schools that make up the Miami Northwestern Senior High School Feeder Pattern. Each partner offers an array of services, including assessments and referrals to in-house and partnered programs, that will address each family's specific need. Partners also serve as outlets that will capture and keep young people’s attention. By doing so, the partnership seeks to reach youth at a level which is not simply reactive in implementation, but rather proactive in application.
