Nutrition

TACOLCY is committed to educating the families we serve about the value of good nutrition. Sponsored by the Florida Health Department, TACOLCY’s Food and Nutrition program provides:

  • Meals and nutrition education to 200 children daily
  • Breakfast, a snack and supper while in the program
  • A series of workshops for staff and parents to improve their awareness of healthy food
  • Programs that help families learn how to live healthy lifestyles and make healthy choices

A partnership with The Health Foundation of South Florida allowed TACOLCY to add a curriculum that teaches the benefits of diet and exercise. For over half of the children who have dinner daily at TACOLCY, this is their primary and often most nutritious meal of the day. Nutrition is a big deal at TACOLCY because we know that healthy people build healthy communities.
